Event Description

We invite all friends and neighbors of the Lutheran emerging church conversation to come together for worship, prayer, listening, wondering, comfort, support and consolation to Columbus OH at Jacob's Porch from August 11-14.

The days will begin and end with worship led by many different attendees. In between we gather with a loose agenda for discussion. We leave the time open for the Spirit and conversation to blow where it will.

The cost of the event is free, however you will need to arrange for your own transportation, food, and housing. Jacob's Porch has a full kitchen and we are seeking local host homes to help assuage the costs incurred.

This is a grassroots gathering so we are depending on those attending to invite their friends interested in such a collective to spread the word to those who would benefit from such a conversation.

I'll be there. Anyone needing a ride in from the Washington DC area on Tues 8/11/2009, let me know. I'm spending the weekend after in Cinci, so I can't help with the return trip. (Others are coming from out this way, who might be able to help with the return trip.)

Hey, just a random comment to let anybody attending know that I'm looking forward to seeing you. If you play an instrument, bring it along - I'm don't want to play music by myself. It doesn't much matter what kind of instrument it is, or if you're any good. See you NEXT WEEK.

FYI -- Jay has confirmed that the huddle is still ON. "Starts at noon, ends at lunch on the last day but of course we are flexible with whatever." That's all I know...

It's now about a month away. Any updates? What should we expect? What help is still needed?

fascinating that this gathering parallels the assembly. i don't mean that in any way that is snarky. it would be interesting for someone to do a comparison of both at some point

Is there a place to camp nearby?

Hi Jay,
Thanks for the invite. I will be eyeball deep in ELCA assembly prep during that time. The retreat sounds much more fun and nurishing. Pray for me and all the other voting delegates as we prayerfully consider approval of a social statment on human sexuality, among many other pressing topics. Pastor Anne
