I am a Lutheran by conversion, thanks to campus ministry. After seminary i did a year as a lay chalin at Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BC). Denominations we know it are dying, the reulst will be probally a United Church sort of arrangement - a network of churches that contain multiple theological/denominational identities. In this we will have allot to learn from the Metropolitain Community Church - united around their acceptance of LGBT folks on the congregational level you have allot of variety from High Church to pentecostal (must make it difficult when seeking a call in that church).

What is the future then? Will we see a new Luther Leage - a lutheran religious order who will keep Lutheran liturgical life and theology alive while sitting with-in a network of plural expressions of faith and theology?

I think you're overestimating the potential effects of current trends in the Church.

do tell.

i don't think this emerging thing will bring 'hundreds of people' into the church, but will instead open spaces for people to find the church who would not normally. One way or the other mainline denominations (which tends to mean white churches) are dying. Maybe thats good. Maybe something new will emerge. And, in that new emergence, how do we let the gifts of Lutheranisim flourish? How do we listen to others gifts?
