i have a meeting with the bishop

i am talking with two great guys from the luthern church about moving my ordination over to the lutherns - harvey blomberg and bill wong - and i have to say i am deeply impressed with both these men.
over the past i have spoken with others in the luthern church that have "pushed me aside" - be it for my tats, peircing or shaved head - but those men were very open to who i was and were not even concerned about my "look" - they were centered on my heart and my call to ministry - which is exciting… Continue

- wow, gyn thanks for the opportunity - but i am so sorry. besides being in a committed relationship, you just don't interest me - consider me a shallow guy, but i like women who are older [above 35 is cool] and well, someone i can actually have a conversation with - you know [or maybe you don't] on topics like - politics, the war, the economy, things that make a difference - i am not to into talking about make-up, the latest music, or how the sun will bleach my hair if i use lemons :)

There are a lot of us in the Lutheran Church (ELCA) who are talking about emergent church and missional church and trying to figure out what God is up to so we can get on board. How exciting to know we may be gaining another voice!

Karen Ward said… - John, good news that you are finding spiritual kinship with the Lutherans. I too have been on a long, winding road journey and I've found a new belonging for myself that is taking place.
What will you have to do to switch your ordination?
Also, if you don't know Nadia Bolz Webber (on this group) you should. Look her up on this site. She is planting an emerging church in Denver and she has tats also. + Check out here blog, http://sarcasticlutheran.typepad.com.
