we use the word partners in ministry. we ask people to partner with us as we seek to fullfill the vision we believe god has set before us. its a little business-y but i still like it better than the countryclub-esk members.
we just spoke of this at our synod assembly. you are right on. most of our churches are refusing people who have come out of jail or prision. what ever happened to the church being a place of Release/freedom.

evil and suffering. liberation and hope. the way of jesus. what is the gospel? etc.
