we use the word partners in ministry. we ask people to partner with us as we seek to fullfill the vision we believe god has set before us. its a little business-y but i still like it better than the countryclub-esk members.
we just spoke of this at our synod assembly. you are right on. most of our churches are refusing people who have come out of jail or prision. what ever happened to the church being a place of Release/freedom.
Great post! i totally agree. I’m a new pastor of a small church with a large building in Encino ca (LA area). For me, this is why i don’t preach on money.
We talk a lot about walking as christ did, which as far as I read was not focused on wealth.…

- I am the new pastor of a fantastic elca community in encino california. It is full of truly remarkable humans who are seeking to live in the way of Christ. We are like the land of misfit toys and it is absolutely beautiful.
