Well, let me start off by confessing my envy. The community life you describe - weekly gatherings in homes, monthly "service", and focusing on blessing the local community - is pretty much the vision I had when I decided to leave my job as a parish pastor now two years ago. A vision I have not been able to live into for various reasons, hence the envy.
I'd like to learn more about how your community lives & write it up as a little profile for my blog, if that's OK. Should we do this by e-mail or here on your Wall? (Couldn't find an e-mail address for you...)
Who am I? (Many ways to answer this -- be as creative as you want, or not.)
I am slowly learning how gently and graciously God works with me, and trying to figure out how to be an apprentice to Jesus in all aspects of my life.
How did I get into "emerging ministry"?
It's complicated. :) I was minding my own business, caught up in church busyness, when God called my attention to the creative, faithful ministry emerging around the church. I found that the emerging mindset matched my post-Christendom firmware, and I found myself in a congregation willing to be a little different. I was part of a fun experiment in holistic community and experiential worship in a congregation that closed for mundane financial reasons. Not ready to go back to the mothership, a number of us have been meeting as an informal worshipping community ever since.
Say a little bit about the community you share life with...
Faith is a journey lived together to bless the world. We gather weekly, mostly in homes, to experience and discuss scripture, prayer, mutual conversation/consolation, and a communal meal, inspired by "the third sort [of Divine Service]" Luther wrote about in the preface to his "German Mass." We're finding ways of blessing our community with our time and our gifts, and working on ways of listening for the Spirit amid daily life...
What are the most pressing questions (both theological and practical) you and your community have?
How do we foster real Christian community (rather than the consumption of religious goods and services) in the midst of the overbusy, fragmented suburbs? How do we help each other make time for Christ and pay attention in this context? How do we find time to embrace spiritual practice in our lives? Does this kind of community fit within the church we knew?

Knew you were Emergent! Good to see your face and that SEPA synod still sees the value of your leadership.
